‘When you are grateful, fear disappears and abundance appears’ – Anthony Robbins
Though I know I have talked about it a lot, I have to reiterate that I believe gratitude is the way to be truly satisfied and happy with life. Rather than comparing ourselves to others, when our attention is turned to that which we are grateful for, it is impossible not to feel like the luckiest person in the world.
We have been practicing gratitude for a few months now, talking about what we are grateful for on a nightly basis, writing lists down in books and even taking photos based on gratitude. Back in gratitude week of the Treasure Yourself project I talked about how participating in Fat Mum Slim’s ‘photo a day’ challenges made me look around and acknowledge the beauty in my every day life – so I thought:
Why not integrate gratitude with the brilliant idea of ‘photo a day’?
And so, this ‘Gratitude photo a day’ project came to life.
The goal of the project is to take a photo a day throughout the month of August of something that you are grateful for. Make sure you tag it on instagram or twitter with #iamgrateful so that we can follow along and see what you come up with.
I have provided the above list for inspiration, and you can use it as listed (eg. number 1 on August 1st), or be less restricted and use it as more of a guide (which probably suits me more as some days I am inspired to take a whole bunch of photos, others I don’t want to take any). I find it is easiest to print out the list and stick it on my fridge or somewhere where I see it each morning so I know what the goal for the day is.
The idea is that at the end of the month you will have a wonderful collection of a whole bunch of things that you are grateful for – and looking at your instagram feed or any pictures you print out will remind you of just how lucky you are!
Get snapping and have fun!
This project was inspired by Fat Mum Slim’s photo a day project, and completed with her permission.
